From Rice to Riches: A California Success Story
Did you know California is the second-largest grower of rice in the United States? Back in the 1840s, new arrivals to Butte County discovered the climate was perfect for cultivating rice. By the 1920s, California emerged as a rice production leader. Today, over 1000 farms grow over half a million acres, and they contribute around 900 million dollars to the state’s economy.
